Mr. Toad, the star of the classic book The Wind in the Willows, for those who didn’t know, also appeared in the Disney film, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. My family owns it, and my children have watched it a few times, but I’ve never had the…. pleasure? experience? Anyway, that’s where Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride comes from.

Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes are one of those simple pleasures. It’s a pretty straightforward concept…. put a bunch of people in a canoe and row. Actually, I’m pretty sure the guide does most of the rowing, but they make you feel like you’re contributing to the forward momentum of the boat. For some reason, the island just seems rustic and remote, even though there are a lot of people milling around.

The only way to get to Tom Sawyer’s Island is by raft. Well, I guess you could swim, but I wouldn’t advise a dip in that yucky water. (more…)
